Foundations of Ancient Astrology in Practice is Module 1 of a formal curriculum in traditional astrology. It is the required starting point — the ground that everything else builds on.
This is not a survey class or an introduction to sun signs. It is a structured, practice-oriented course in how to actually read a chart — how to understand structure, assess conditions, and use timing as orientation rather than prediction.

Foundations teaches how to read astrology as structure, condition, and stewardship — not as a prediction system.
How Sessions Work
Each session follows a recurring form that is itself part of the pedagogy. The structure creates a container for practice — not just content delivery.
Arrival
A brief gathering moment before instruction begins — orienting the group to the present and to each other.
Practice Debrief
Reflection on the previous week's practice invitation. What came up? What was noticed? The practice continues between sessions.
Perspectival Window
A short framing that opens the session's topic — situating the day's material in the larger tradition and practice context.
Shared Inquiry
Questions, observations, and dialogue before the teaching proper. This is a conversation, not a lecture.
Teaching and Chart Work
The core instructional content — working with actual charts to ground the material in practice rather than theory alone.
Practice Invitation and Closing
A concrete invitation to carry the session's insight into the coming week, followed by a brief closing gesture.
Note on communal sessions: Periodic non-lecture sessions — participatory gatherings oriented around practice, making, or shared reflection — are part of the ecology of this work, not optional extras. Communal practice is structurally important to how this tradition was meant to be held.
Why This Comes First
Foundations is not just the first module — it is the prerequisite for all later modules. The curriculum is designed to build progressively, with each stage developing the structural and symbolic grammar introduced here.
This sequencing is intentional. Astrology practiced without grounding in its own inner logic is difficult to use well. Foundations establishes that logic before adding complexity.
If you are considering tutoring or a consultation, Foundations remains the recommended starting point for most people who want to study rather than simply receive a reading.
